Iran is prepared to reinitiate nuclear negotiations with Washington provided that it is approached with "respect" and "respect", Tehran's top diplomat has stated.

The Iranian diplomat said exclusively dialogue was effective, and shared fresh requests had been made by intermediaries to reopen discussions with the Trump administration. He claimed Iran did not have unreported enrichment locations, and Tehran was not yet able to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect attacked atomic facilities for protective measures.

Walking a Difficult Course

Araghchi is walking a complex path since Iran does not want appear to be proceeding from a position of vulnerability, and he consistently maintained that Iran had come out more powerful militarily and emotionally from the coordinated strike on its nuclear sites in June.

He was speaking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an absolute privilege to process nuclear material within its borders that it will perpetually retain" – the main reason of the stalemate in the previous talks.

Prior Talks Suddenly Ended

The previous five rounds of talks between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and hostile conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, attacked Tehran's atomic facilities in a fortnight-long engagement that culminated with the American leader declaring the facilities had been destroyed. Following this, Western states employed their right to reinstate global restrictions, but Iran maintains they have not had a significant effect.

Ideal Resolution Proposed

Iran's diplomats stated they felt they had achieved a "ideal resolution" to the nuclear fuel concern in previous talks, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with American involvement could enrich uranium. Both sides would have been able to claim victory since home-based processing would have persisted and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the talks that American atomic experts could operate within Iranian territory, but that was a natural consequence of the partnership suggestion. Officials claimed on multiple occasions they had achieved a deal with Washington's diplomat Steve Witkoff only for the agreement to fall apart due to "opponents in the US".

Present Position

Tehran representatives declared the partnership proposal was now no longer available, but it seems quite possible the offer could be revived in some form if negotiations restart.

The American leader in recent days claimed he had been obtaining communications that Iran wanted to restart talks, but in private Iranian officials state they are not yet obtaining coherent offers from America either explicitly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as Qatar, Egypt, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been accused of non-responsiveness in the aftermath of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Tehran states dialogue is not part of a spectacle.

Political Position

In his remarks to the conference, intended to portray the US as a hegemonic power that abuses the idea of global regulations, Araghchi said the 12-day war showed the clash could not be settled by combat operations. He asserted the strikes commenced with a US demand for an total Iran submission and concluded with an absolute demand for a ceasefire.

Iran is certain the first strikes by Israel were carried out with full US knowledge and coordination, making confidence hard to restore.

Diplomacy Stays the Final Solution

Araghchi declared: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned dialogue; it was the United States and the European states that had consistently sought to impose their demands during the negotiations. Diplomacy can still be active and continues the final answer to settle disagreements, but its requirements, guidelines and tenets must be followed."

He added: "We successfully passed this engagement. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to eliminate, remains in place. The Iranian people have developed stronger, more united, and more endorsing of the administration and the state in the wake of this invasion."
